Abstract:
The static test of RX-420 has been successfully done on December 23rd, 2008. The success is, among others, due to the design of the motor's structure. This paper will analyze and the components of motor's structure from the plasticity design theory.
In the structure, if the load is not considered too big, the stress is then in elastic domain. However, if the load is increase, some parts of the structure will experience yield stress, and the structure will have elastic-plastic deformations. Further increase in load will make the entire structure will experience yield stress and collapse. In this paper, the analysis or design is done in plasticity method which use the simpler mathematics equation, compare to those exist in elasticity method. The analysis and theory will be employed in the structure of RX-420 rocker motor, which its motor tube use 17-7PH steel, and its nozzle and cap use S-45C carbon steel. The output from the analysis will be used for the consideration of safety.
