Abstract:
Utilization of used dry-cell graphite for electrode at conductance instrument was made. For conductancy measurement, the electrode immersed in the sample an conected with alternating current source and electrical multimeter.
The analysis base on that there is a significant different between the original solution and the reagent of the product of the product of reaction. Before it was used for analize zirconium stripping product, the instruments have been employed to measure the sample conductance at several concentrations with variation of voltage and electrode distance, so that it was known that the best conditions were at 12 V voltadge and 1 cm electrode distance. The sample was taken in a beaker, kept at room temperature, then dip the electrode in the solution. This solution was titrated against the base solution with known strength using burette and measure the conductance of the solution. The data otained were brought into a graphic of relationship between conductance and the volume of NaOH. From the intersection point of the graphic, then a calculation of free acid and Zr content can be done. The result was compared to convensional methode analysis. It can be concluded that the simple conductometry device can be used analysis of zirconium stripping product.
